The 53rd Annual Flickertail Woodcarvers Show was held October 14 & 15 at the Bismarck Public Schools Career Academy, with special classes held on the days just prior.
Charlene Lynum chip-carving class: The class met 2 days prior to the show, and the two mornings of the show. Charlene is from Eau Claire, WI, and taught a class on the “Duke” box. She has been chip carving since 1985, and is a Vesterheim Gold Medalist in woodworking. Her book titled “Chip Carving Starter Guide” is available at Fox Chapel Publishing. She has had multiple articles in Woodcarving Illustrated.
Josh Epping Whimsical Face class: Josh Epping will be teaching a whimsical face class. The face was carved in cottonwood bark. Josh has been carving full time since 2019. He prefers carving using a chainsaw, but he also uses a knife. His class was held the mornings before the show.
Alan Pearson Rosemaling class: Alan Pearson taught a beginner class on rosemaling, with a Telemark design on a breadboard. His class was held the mornings before the show.
